Debra Silimeo, Hager Sharp Executive Vice President, is set to be inducted into the PR News Hall of Fame on December 6, 2016 at the National Press Club.
“It’s an honor to be among this group of accomplished individuals,” said Silimeo. “I believe that what we do is more than a job, it’s a mission. It’s great to work in a field and a firm where you can be constantly challenged by change, and get joy and meaning from your work.”
The honor recognizes PR professionals who have played longtime leadership roles, serving as sources of inspiration within and beyond the workplace. Hall of Fame inductees are chosen for contributions in the field that have redefined and expanded what it means to be a professional communicator.
Prior to joining Hager Sharp, Silimeo advised Cabinet officers and U.S. senate leaders on communications strategies and led communications offices at two federal agencies. She brings a reporter’s eye for news to her work, having begun her career as a journalist in Washington, D.C.
Silimeo’s communications career has spanned more than three decades. She has played an integral role in growing Hager Sharp to be the fourth-largest independent firm in the national capital region.
Silimeo has directed Hager Sharp’s work in education for 16 years, building an education team that continually delivers outstanding results for clients.
Silimeo was inducted into the PRSA National Capital Chapter’s Hall of Fame in 2015, recognized by Washington Women in Public Relations as the 2010 PR “Woman of the Year” and by the Washington Business Journal as an outstanding regional business leader.
