Allyson Harkey
DIGITAL CONTENT WRITER

Allyson loves words. Writing words; editing words; using words to communicate, convince, engage, and inspire.
As a digital content writer at Hager Sharp and the social media task lead for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office on Women’s Health team, Allyson molds messages to fit multiple digital platforms and social media channels for maximum impact. She strives to use words to improve the lives and health of women and girls across the country.
Prior to joining Hager Sharp, Allyson used words to support clients specializing in cancer research and policy, education, and biotechnology by developing marketing collateral, funding announcements, white papers, scientific articles, newsletters, and meeting summaries.
Allyson has received a National Institutes of Health (NIH) Award of Merit for exemplary leadership in expanding research on cancers in women and an NIH Plain Language Award. When not writing words, Allyson can be found speaking them on theatrical stages and audio description headsets around the world.
A professional actor/singer, Allyson became a writer/editor through her compulsive need to delete double spaces after periods. She loves scuba diving, social media, Waffle House, women’s issues, kitten GIFs, and fast cars.
