Since 2010, Hager Sharp has supported Lumina Foundation in advancing its mission to improve pathways to post-high school education and training that prepare all students for career success. The goal is to amplify Lumina Foundation’s work through cross-platform strategies that engage priority audiences with its vision of ensuring widespread availability of high-quality post-high school opportunities.


Hager Sharp develops and executes effective plans for paid and organic social media campaigns that target key audiences. For Lumina’s priority initiatives, Hager Sharp also develops strategic media relations plans and conducts outreach to national news organizations and local broadcast outlets to seed enterprise coverage. In addition, Hager Sharp elevates Lumina’s executives and subject matter experts through thought leadership, select media interviews, and appearances on respected podcasts that reach priority audiences.


Our work has resulted in coverage in high-impact outlets like The New York Times and NBC News Radio. Paid and social media efforts have resulted in over 75 million views of Lumina’s important work.

Hager Sharp developed a suite of services to amplify Lumina-supported media organizations that cover post-high school education and training opportunities.

Lumina Foundation sought to recruit two-year colleges across the country to strengthen their brand story with the goal of attracting a more diverse cohort of students. Hager Sharp developed a strategy that combined paid and organic social media campaigns and targeted outreach to journalists and partner organizations. Several hundred community colleges joined the challenge. Local news outlets covered the announcement of finalists, and national trade publications and higher education podcasts covered the $1 million award-winning institution.

When Lumina Foundation wanted to convene national experts to explore the historic plunge in college enrollments, Hager Sharp produced a virtual event that drew thousands of attendees.
